June 16th Update
Posted June 16, 2008 by 914goodoldaysCategories: Welcome to Good Ol Days
I’m still trying to learn how to get updates on this new ‘blog stuff’ . I’ve downloaded all kinds of photos and can’t figure out how to get them on the site without dumping a whole bunch of photos here.
So things at the house are changing. I have installed a Dehumidifyer in the basement to dry up what appears to be condensation on the Champion Basement vinyl walls that empty the water into the interior french drains. Once we’ve got that problem tackled then we can move forward with the Owens Corning Basement Remodeling system.
What’s happening in June?

Memorial Day activities at the GOOD OL DAYS HOUSE have been quite interesting at the end of May. Once Eric Clapton sang his old favorite “I SHOT THE SHERIFF” while I decorated the front porch for Memorial Day — it seems everything began to fall into place and things are under control! This Land is My Land & thank goodness it’s still GOD BLESS AMERICA!
BASEMENT MESSY PHOTOS

Top Photos are of the Basement area
Second row of photos are from the Sink and Bar areas
Third row is the Basement Bathroom and Shower Stall. And you haven’t seen nothing yet! Stop back tomorrow and I will have photos of PROGRESS in the BASEMENT. The installation of Interior French drains and 2 sump pumps + vinyl walls to keep water from coming out of the Terra Cotta Foundation and leaking into the basement! The French drains + the pump will take that all away……more AMAZING progress to come….
Windows Before & After

PROGRESS!! Here are photos of Aunt Janie’s House in November (snow on ground + old windows) and then another photo taken in April one week after the NEW WINDOWS were put in (no snow on the ground — but we had frost)
The outside of the house is very deceiving…………..the INSIDE IS ONE HUGE MESS!
1920′s Oak Flooring Big Question Today
Posted May 20, 2008 by 914goodoldaysCategories: Welcome to Good Ol Days

These are the 1920′s PINE FLOORING that is throughout the house. We are working on the upstairs bedrooms and hallway and deciding what to do with these floors. I plan to put area rugs in each room & hallway which is period correct for this American Foursquare and exactly what they did back then since there is a rim of ‘painted’ flooring around the edges in a brown color (popular at the time). So tomorrow I plan to vacuum it and clean it really good with hopes of just painting the perimeter. What color?? Not sure. I’m calling on an interior decorator & color consultant to help me decide before I take out the brushes. It will be a while before we paint anything in the upstairs because of all the dust that will be occurring as we work on the bathroom & laundry room on the second floor.

This is Cody — he stripped about 2 of these spindels for me just before the PITTSBURGH PENGUINS BEGAN THEIR DEMISE OF THE PHILADELPHIA (whatchamacallits?) on Sunday. He will be involved in many of these upcoming projects at the house — and believe me — there is lots to do! I’ve completed 5 of these spindles & part of the handrail & ballister and have 13 spindles to go….by then I should awesome biceps for sleeveless summer outfits!! WHHOooHHHOOOO!!
Check back tomorrow — for more stripping photos!
